شنشورة - Shanshorh, 2026

جاء هذا العمل الفني ثمرة دراسة أكاديمية امتدت على مدار سنة كاملة، شملت البحث، والكتابة، والتجريب في تقنيات فنية متعددة، ليُقدَّم كقطعة فنية بعنوان "شنشورة". بوصفي ابنة منطقة العُلا، شكّلت تساؤلاتي المستمرة حول تراثها وحياة أهلها في الزمن القديم نقطة انطلاق لهذا المشروع. سعت التجربة إلى تحويل الحكايات والعادات التي ورثتها عن جدّاتي إلى مشهد بصري يوثّق تاريخ العُلا وتراثها الإنساني، مستلهِمة حرفة الخوص بوصفها إحدى الحرف التقليدية المرتبطة بالمنطقة. اعتمدت في تنفيذ العمل على تقنية اللاينو لما تمنحه من إحساس يدوي صادق، ثم عولجت الطبعات باستخدام الألوان المائية لإضفاء بعد جمالي وحسي على القطع. كما أُضيف التطريز بخيوط الذهب ليعزّز ملمس الخوص وحضوره البصري داخل العمل. وانطلاقًا من تبنّي مفهوم الحرفة اليدوية، تم تصنيع ورق معاد التدوير خصيصًا للمشروع، ليمنح الطبعات طابعًا فريدًا ومتجانسًا مع فكرة العمل. يستعرض المشروع مجموعة من المعالم التاريخية في العُلا التي تشكّل جزءًا أصيلًا من هويتها، من بينها الطنطورة (الساعة الشمسية) التي اعتمد عليها الأهالي قديمًا في حساب الفصول ومواسم الزراعة، والبلدة القديمة التي ما زالت جدرانها تحفظ نبض الحياة الأولى، إضافة إلى النقوش الصخرية التي تركتها الحضارات القديمة على واجهات الجبال، كشاهد حيّ على عمق التاريخ وتنوّعه الحضاري. يأتي مشروع "شنشورة" بوصفه عملًا فنيًا يوثق ذاكرة العُلا، ويجعل الخوص لغة بصرية تربط بين الأجيال، وتحكي قصة أرض ما زالت تنسج من ترابها وضوئها حكايات لا تنتهي. This artwork is the result of an academic study conducted over the course of a full year, encompassing research, writing, and experimentation with various artistic techniques. It is presented as an art piece titled “Shanshoorah.” As a daughter of AlUla, my ongoing curiosity about its heritage and the lives of its people in the past served as the starting point for this project. The work seeks to transform the stories and traditions passed down to me by my grandmothers into a visual narrative that documents the history and cultural heritage of AlUla, drawing inspiration from palm frond weaving (Khoos) as one of the traditional crafts deeply connected to the region. In executing the work, I employed the linocut technique for its ability to convey an authentic, handmade quality. The prints were then treated with watercolors to add a delicate visual and sensory dimension. Gold-thread embroidery was also incorporated to enhance the texture of the palm fronds and emphasize their presence within the work. In line with embracing the concept of handcraftsmanship, recycled paper was specially produced for the project, giving the prints a distinctive character that aligns with the conceptual framework of the piece. The project highlights a selection of historical landmarks in AlUla that form an integral part of its identity, including Al-Tantoura (the sundial), which was traditionally used by residents to determine seasons and agricultural cycles; the Old Town, whose walls continue to echo the rhythms of early life; and rock inscriptions carved by ancient civilizations onto mountain faces, standing as living witnesses to the depth and diversity of the region’s history. “Shanshoorah” is an artistic endeavor that documents the collective memory of AlUla, using palm fronds as a visual language that connects generations and tells the story of a land that continues to weave endless narratives from its soil and light.
