Earth materials collected among the Paleozoic sandstones and the much younger lava fields inform this work. Gondwana was the last supercontinent, when all landmasses were coalesced. As this ancient continent began breaking apart, it caused major geologic and climatic upheaval. The landmasses began drifting apart and many areas became flooded. Today, the traces of the supercontinent can be found all over the world, also in Saudi Arabia among the weathered Paleozoic sandstones. At the time of many environmental changes, we experience today, it is a reminder of the cyclicity of Earth’s transformation and the inevitability of geologic processes and their much larger timescales.
